Learn how to read a Composite chart

( Work in progress )

What is a Composite chart?

The composite chart is the chart of a relationship, and is derived by taking the mathematical midpoints between each person’s planets and points.

What does it show?

It shows the nature of the relationship, two natal charts as a blended entity, and it can give a tremendous insight into the very basic meaning of the relationship.

How is it calculated?

Technically, composites are based on the (near) midpoints of all planets and points in both natal charts.

Where to make a composite chart?

You can make a composite chart here.

Important segments

Because the composite chart has all the same features as a natal (birth) chart, we need to approach its interpretation in more or less the same way. We interpret 2 segments of a composite chart:

  • house positions of planets
  • planetary aspects

We don't interpret house positions of planets, because the composite chart is not a real chart (for example: there are no retrogrades).

Quick overview of the meaning of planets and houses
